Red Deer Catholic set to hold second engagement session on new middle school

Construction is expected to start in this fall

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools will hold its second community engagement session on the St. Lorenzo Ruiz Middle School later this month.

The Zoom information session will be held on May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. and is about the design process and construction of the new middle school in the Kentwood neighbourhood.

The first session was on April 6, to get community feedback on the overall design and focused primarily on the layout of the new school.

So far, geotechnical testing has been completed and the results were used in optimizing the site layout. A traffic assessment will be completed in the near future as part of the development permit process.

Construction is expected to start in the fall of 2021, with the school opening in September 2023.
