Red Deer Chamber announces Business of the Year finalists

The finalists for this year’s Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year awards have been announced.

On Thursday, the chamber revealed 18 finalists spread across six different categories, including business of the year, not-for-profit of the year and business leader of the year. An independent adjudication committee comprised of local business leaders selected the finalists from more than 104 nominees.

Here is the full list of nominees:

  • Small Business of the Year finalists: Juiced Events, Shift OHS and Solorzano Spa
  • Business of the Year finalists: Pass Electric, Premier Academy and Royal LePage Network Realty Corp.
  • New Business of the Year finalists: Circle Square Childcare Inc., Johnson Spring, and Trailer and Vasectomy Central
  • Not-for-Profit finalists: Dress for Success, Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre and Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery
  • Emerging Business of the Year finalists: R/T Heating and Air Conditioning, Tailblazers, and Three Broke Sisters
  • Business Leader of the Year Award: Patricia Arango of the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Centre, Ryley Kay of Cilantro and Chive, and Shazma Charania of ZS Holdings

Businesses are nominated by the public and a committee made of local business people volunteer their time to be on the judging committee. The committee then conducts a comprehensive evaluation to determine the finalists. As an outcome of this process, the winners are also determined, however, the results are sealed and embargoed until the awards ceremony.

Winners of the 2023 Business of the Year Awards will be announced at the annual ceremony, which will be held at the Red Deer Polytechnic Arts Centre on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Tickets for the event are available online at www.reddeerchamber.com or at the Chamber office, located at 3017 Gaetz Ave.

The Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce is described as a “collaborative leader in building a vibrant community and fosters an environment where businesses can lead, be innovative, sustainable, and grow.”
