The Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce will be part of a federal shop local funding initiative.

In a news release, the organization said it will get funds to “massively expand its efforts to encourage patronage of community businesses as in support of the economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic.” The funding comes from a partnership between Alberta Chambers of Commerce and the Federal Ministry of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade.

“It is important that we engage in activities that continue to promote consumer confidence and spending in the central Alberta region,” said Rick More, Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce CEO.

“This funding will allow us to highlight, bolster and raise awareness of the innumerable local businesses. We are incredibly excited to help tell the story and raise the profile of our local businesses to ensure they receive the recognition and support they deserve.”
