Red Deer city councillors launch spring Green Deer campaign

Volunteers are needed to keep the city looking good

Red Deer city councillors launched the spring Green Deer community clean up campaign on Wednesday.

Mayor Tara Veer said city workers do their best to keep the city looking good, but need volunteer help to get rid of litter that has blown into bushes onto road sides over the winter.

This year, paper pandemic masks make up some of the debris, and the city is cautioning cleaners to wear gloves when dropping these into garbage bags.

The Green Deer Spring Cleanup Campaign runs until May 31. During this time, all Red Deer residents are encouraged to show their civic pride, register for Green Deer, and pick up litter.
