Red Deer city council unanimously voted to repeal an immunization policy for its own members.

Since there’s no longer a COVID immunization or testing requirement for City of Red Deer staff and volunteers, city councillors decided to drop the Council Immunization Policy as well.

It was enacted earlier this year in order to create the same rules for members of city council that applied to staff. The council immunization policy was set to be reviewed within 90 days — or by April 25 — but on Monday, council opted to end it earlier.

On Monday, most city councillors met in-person in city council chambers at Red Deer’s City Hall for the first time since the pandemic started.
