Red Deer College is continuing its 2021-22 budget planning, a day after the Government of Alberta’s released the provincial budget for the year.

On Friday, RDC said the information in the provincial budget, which was tabled the day before, will be used to help make decisions for the institution’s upcoming budget.

“In (Thursday’s) provincial budget announcement, RDC learned that we will continue to experience a decrease in our institution’s Campus Alberta operating grant,” said Dr. Peter Nunoda, RDC president.

“This will present a challenge as we plan for the college’s upcoming academic year. However, in preparing a balanced budget for RDC’s 2021/2022 academic year, RDC’s faculty and staff remain focused on continuing to provide high-quality applied learning experiences and services that our students and community members have come to expect.”

RDC’s budget planning for its 2021/2022 academic year will continue in the coming weeks and months. Decisions will be shared with the College community and other stakeholders once they are made.

“We recognize that RDC’s budget must reflect the current economic conditions in which we find ourselves, while demonstrating creativity and innovation as we seek new sources of revenue to ensure our future sustainability as an organization,” said Nunoda.
