The land Greyhound had once considered moving to in Gasoline Alley, has instead been split into two.

The lot on the east side of Hwy 2 was subdivided at Red Deer County’s Municipal Planning Commission. The space has both a McDonald’s Restaurant and a UFA Cardlock gas station. The UFA had wanted to add a convenience store, but the space was inappropriate.

Instead, they sought to subdivide the land, which was approved at MPC on Tuesday.

More than a year ago, Greyhound was considering moving into the location and out of downtown Red Deer in early 2017, the move was then pushed back and eventually dropped altogether. However, that plan did not proceed and the bus station remains at 4303 50th Ave.

Red Deer Municipal Planning Commission approved the subdivision of the land with the understanding that it may include a redevelopment of the McDonalds.
