Red Deer County has lifted its fire restrictions.

A fire ban was lifted on May 26 as conditions improved, but fire restrictions remained in place. Those were lifted as of 9 a.m. on Friday.

Permits are now available online at rdcounty.ca/fire. To obtain your burn permit an account must be set up. A fire permit is required for all open fires year-round, except for safe acceptable residential fire pits within the county.

Fire Services will continue to monitor weather patterns and should dry weather conditions return another fire restriction may be put in place.

Under county rules a residential fire pit is acceptble if it has at least one-metre clearance from the nearest fireplace edge to the nearest

edge of a building, property lines, or other combustible material. It must be built of materials such as bricks or rocks that are noncombustible. See the county website for more information on fire pit requirements.
