Brian and Connie Thomson are sharing the wisdom they’ve gained from 43 years of marriage.
The Red Deer couple is providing keys to marital success in their new book Top 10 Tips for a Terrific Tantalizing Twosome: How to Build, Strengthen and Enjoy Your Marriage.
“We have been speaking at marriage conferences and marriage seminars for many years. People say, ‘You guys look really happy. What are some of your tips?’ Brian Thomson said.
“We started sharing tips and put them into a manual. Our daughter took our manual, listened to the recordings of our seminar and put it together in more of a book format.”
They then worked with a professional editor to create the new book, which is described as “fast-paced, practical and often humorous.”
Brian Thomson said he and Connie want to help couples with their problems before they grow.
“In our book, we talk about weeds – weeds are easy if you pick them when they’re small, but when they multiply and cover your garden, it’s (harder),” he said.
The Thomsons, who have lived in Red Deer for more than 38 years, wanted to release the book before Valentine’s Day.
They were successful in that regard, as Top 10 Tips for a Terrific Tantalizing Twosome can be purchased now on Amazon and www.brianthomson.com.
An audiobook has been recorded and will be available soon.
“It’s sad to see couples having problems. Connie’s parents’ relationship ended in divorce when she was 16 and it hurt her as a teenager,” said Brian Thomson.
“We want to help people from avoiding the pain of having a marriage fail. Nobody gets married hoping it’ll end in divorce. They get married in hopes that they’ll be in love forever.”
All profits from book sales will go towards Home of Hope, which is a nonprofit organization that serves thousands of children and single mothers in nations around the world.
Brian Thomson, founder of Home of Hope, wrote the book Meant 4 More earlier this year, which features the story of organization.
