Red Deer’s COVID-19 assessment centre is now closed, but testing will be available at a mobile unit located at 28 Michener Street.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is continuing its phased approach to transitioning COVID-19 testing and immunization away from stand-alone centres, and the closure of the Red Deer centre, at 1780 49 Ave., was effective Monday.

“We will continue to closely monitor COVID-19 activity across the zone, and will be ready to adjust testing options should the need arise,” says AHS in a statement.

Appointments will continue to be scheduled online with AHS at COVID-19 Assessment & Testing, with instructions and site details provided when booking.

At-home use of rapid antigen testing kits is encouraged for clients who are symptomatic. Kits remain free of charge and available at pharmacies. Rapid antigen testing at home is an option for clients who are eligible to book a PCR test online, and as the alternative for clients who are ineligible for PCR testing.

COVID-19 immunization appointments will transition to the Johnstone Crossing Community Health Centre, at 300 Jordan Parkway. Appointments for immunization and boosters can be booked online with AHS at COVID-19 Immunization Booking.
