A Red Deer cyclist was killed when he was struck by a vehicle last weekend.
Blackfalds RCMP responded to a collision involving the cyclist on Highway 2, between Highway 11 and the 32nd Street overpass, at about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday.
Police say the preliminary investigation reveals a SUV was travelling southbound when it collided with the 32-year-old male cyclist.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Edwin Aklamanu, 36, of Edmonton, has been charged with failing to provide a breath sample causing death and operation of a vehicle while impaired causing death.
He’ll appear in Red Deer provincial court Oct. 16.
Blackfalds RCMP, along with an RCMP collision analyst, continue to investigate.
