Red Deer Dream Centre should open its doors some time this summer, says the executive director.

Earlier in the year, the centre was expected to open prior to June.

Executive director Vince Aliberti said renovations to the site are mostly complete and operational fundraising efforts are continuing for the much-needed, local, addictions treatment service.

“We’ve had clients call us. Plus, I get the calls from the mothers, the grandmothers, the fathers, the grandfathers,” Aliberti said.

He said applications for clients will soon be available online.

The former Lotus nightclub building, at 4614 50 Ave., is being renovated to become a 40-bed, Christian-based treatment centre for men.

About $1.4 million was raised in capital funding, and operational funding has become the focus of fundraising.

“As a non-profit, without the funding, we can’t operate without the funding. Funding is always a priority for us. I’m applying for grants as well.”

He said the centre is looking to partner with businesses that may want to sponsor a bed, or host a fundraising event.

“I’m more than happy to give them a tour of the centre.”
