Red Deer Dream Centre is holding its first annual Road to Recovery Walk on Saturday in support of men in addiction treatment at the centre.
The walk on Sept. 23 will be held at CrossRoads Church, located at 38105 Range Rd 275. Individuals and teams will be walking either one or seven km.
“We are excited to report that participants have already raised nearly $70,000 in pledges in advance of the walk,” said the centre in a statement.
Registration and a pancake breakfast for participants will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a welcome message and raffle draw at 11:10 a.m. The walk will start at 11:30 a.m.
Donations can be made by visiting rddc.ca and clicking on the Road to Recovery banner or the donate now button at the top of the home page.
The goal of the Red Deer Dream Centre is for clients to find hope and healing, reconnect with their families, and become productive, contributing and purpose-filled members of society.
The centre welcomes clients straight from detox and supports them with housing, meals, and individual and group counselling for a minimum four-month program. The centre also assists with housing, education upgrading, and referrals for job skill training as the men transition back into the community.
