Red Deer Emergency Services has found the suspected cause of the gas-like odour in Red Deer.

After investigation, it’s believed that equipment delivered to a yard in Edgar Industrial Park earlier this week is the source of the odour.

The company is working to mitigate the smell. Red Deer Emergency Services is working with Alberta Environment to determine how long the odour may persist.

The odour does not appear to be dangerous, but if residents are feeling ill as result of the smell, they are advised to call Health Link at 8-1-1.

A special air quality statement is in effect for Red Deer due to wildfire smoke from Northern Alberta. Please also call Health Link at 8-1-1 if you are experiencing symptoms from wildfire smoke.
