A Red Deer house is a complete loss after a fire in the eastern part of Red Deer this past weekend.
Red Deer Emergency Services was called to the fire on Donald Close just after 3 p.m. on Sunday, explained assistant deputy chief Curtis Schafer explained.
“Crews were on scene for approximately two hours to extinguish the fire and get it under control. We had four engines, one ladder truck and one command vehicle, as well as one ambulance,” Schafer told The Advocate on Monday.
“Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and fire coming through the roof.”
There were no injuries reported at the scene.
“Bystanders helped evacuate the residents of the home and their pets – they got them out safely,” Schaefer said.
The exact cost of damage caused by the fire is undetermined, but Schaefer said the house is completely “written off” due to the fire.
“There’s significant damage from the fire,” he said, adding a cause hasn’t been determined yet.
“Our fire investigators are back there (Monday) working to do the investigation.”
