A Red Deer event company won its third Canadian Event Industry Award last month.
Creative Twist Inc. won the award for Best Virtual Corporate Event under $100,000 which was presented at a gala in Toronto on Sept. 28.
The company’s winning event was a virtual beach retreat produced for a Vancouver law firm where employees had been working remotely for over a year and were feeling disconnected and isolated.
Working with a Vancouver planner, Creative Twist designed a completely custom virtual space and agenda of interactive activities and challenges aimed at creating a unique shared experience.
“When the pandemic shut down live events, we had to reinvent ourselves to stay in business. We jumped into the virtual soup and in June 2020 we launched a virtual event venue called Connect Event Hub,” said Creative Twist owner and event strategist Kimberly Beaune in a statement.
“It was a challenge to translate over 25 years of experience in live events and apply that to virtual events, but we excelled at it. This win is validation of all our efforts to help clients re-imagine their events for virtual.”
Creative Twist is still curating a select number of virtual and hybrid events, and is also back to designing and producing live events in Red Deer and across Canada.
Previous Canadian Event Industry Awards for Creative Twist include: Best Event Decor/Design Concept $80,000 + in 2018, and Best Trade Show Booth, Display or Pavillion in 2019.
Beaune, a graduate of Red Deer College’s Hospitality and Tourism program, began her career in hotel sales but was quickly drawn to the art of communicating through event design.
In 2014 she launched her own boutique event firm. Currently Beaune is chair elect for the International Live Event Association Canada Affiliate.
