Red Deer event will celebrate different languages

An annual event for Red Deerians to celebrate the many different languages spoken here is set for Feb. 25.

International Mother Language Day offers an opportunity for people to learn words in different languages, participate in interactive games and learn something about other cultures. There will be prizes as well.

There willl be booths representing different languages and cultures, hosted by Central Alberta Refugee Effort volunteers from different countries.

Some of the other languages besides English that are spoken in Red Deer include Tagalog, Spanish, German, Chinese and Punjabi.

The family event is free, and hosted by CARE. It takes place at the Colicutt Centre from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact CARE at 403-346-8818 for further information.
