Red Deer Emergency Services responded to an early morning house fire in Garden Heights on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Chris Kearns said someone at the Grove Close home reported the fire at 7:33 a.m.

“Everyone was evacuated immediately. There were no injuries,” Kearns said.

He said flames and smoke were coming from a back corner of the house when firefighters arrived, and the fire seemed to have started on the exterior.

The fire spread into the roof, so the damage was not limited to the corner of the house. A fence shared with a neighbouring house was also damaged, he said.

The fire was extinguished by 8:15 a.m. and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

An estimate on the cost of damage to the single-storey home was unavailable.
