Red Deer Food Bank benefits from food drive

Real Canadian Superstore, Real Canadian Wholesale Club and Your Independent Grocer in Red Deer celebrated a record-breaking 2019 Holiday Food Drive in Alberta.

With the help of the public, the local grocery stores raised $10,800 and collected 1,440 kilograms of goods for Red Deer Food Bank.

The Real Canadian Superstore took in the highest amount of monetary donations, with more than $7,500 tallied.

A total of $365,661 and 71,960 kilograms of non-perishable food items were donated through Real Canadian Superstore and Loblaw-affiliated grocery outlets to local food banks in the province between Nov. 29 and Dec. 24.

The Holiday Food Drive initiative started 10 years ago.
