Red Deer gets $11 million in infrastructure funding

Red Deer is one of several central Alberta communities to receive federal infrastructure funding from the Canada Community-Building Fund for the 2021-22 fiscal year.

More than $254 million will go to Alberta, as well as a top-up of more than $243 million.

Red Deer received $6,047,625 for 2021-22, and a $5,778,568 top-up totalling to about $11.8 million.

The 2021 top-up is a one-time payment for the purpose of funding municipal infrastructure and capacity building.

Since March 2020, Infrastructure Canada has more approved more than 3,600 projects under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program representing nearly $10 billion in federal investments.
