Red Deer Uber riders have some of the highest average ratings in Canada, according to the transportation-network app.

For the second year in a row, Uber has released the top five and bottom five ranked Canadian cities for rider ratings.

Red Deer sits in third place for the highest average ratings, behind just Sherbrooke, Que., and Trois-Rivières, Que., which are first and second respectively. Rounding out the top five are Winnipeg, Man., in fourth and Halifax, N.S., in fifth.

Last year’s rankings had Red Deer as the No. 2 city in the country.

Ottawa, Ont., is the lowest ranked city in all of Canada in terms of the lowest average rider rating for Uber. Toronto, Ont., is the second-lowest; Montreal, Que., is the third-lowest; Hamilton, Ont., is the fourth-lowest; and Edmonton is the fifth-lowest.

Uber offers the following tips for riders who are interested in raising their own personal rating:

  • Don’t leave a mess behind;
  • Remember to buckle up for your and the driver’s safety;
  • Make sure drivers don’t have to wait for you upon pickup;
  • Treat your driver and their vehicle with respect;
  • Don’t slam the door when entering and exiting the vehicle.

Uber users can check their own personal ratings in the app.

“The ratings breakdown is available to all Uber users right in the (privacy centre), which can be accessed by logging into your account online or in the app,” says a release on the Uber website.

“In addition to viewing your ratings, users can also review their past trip information, payment details, control marketing preferences and more in the (privacy centre).”

Both riders and drivers have the ability to rate one to five stars on a trip. An individual’s rating is the average of their last 500 trips.

The app’s privacy centre is available to all users globally.
