Red Deer high school experiences gas leak, classes all online Friday

Hunting Hills High School students were learning from home Friday due to a gas leak.

Red Deer Public Schools said Hunting Hills experienced a leak to a line that brings gas into the building for heating.

“Although the leak has been repaired, the school heating is not functioning correctly, making the building unsuitable for teaching and learning today,” principal Darwin Roscoe said in a statement to families and students Friday morning.

“We are unable to circulate fresh air into the building at this time. Therefore, all classes will be online for the day.”

The school was expected to run its regular schedule throughout the day.
