The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the murder of a woman earlier this month.

On Feb. 1, Reichel Alpeche, of Red Deer, attempted to stop someone from stealing her vehicle. The 30-year-old woman died as a result of injuries received when the suspect fled in her vehicle.

“The RCMP continue to get tips (from the public), however at this time we don’t have any additional information. We’re still following up on several investigational avenues,” Central Alberta District Cpl. Troy Savinkoff told The Advocate Monday.

The stolen vehicle was located Feb. 7, but police continue to look for the suspect.

Savinkoff said “there’s nothing from this investigation that would tell us” that there is a safety risk to the public.

“However, it is still concerning that we haven’t made an arrest on this investigation. We take it very seriously and our officers are working diligently to try to move this investigation ahead.”

About a week after the incident, police released five photos captured in the area of the murder on Feb. 1. Two of the photos are from Riverside Meadows of Red Deer at about 6 p.m., and the other three photos are from the area of Nyberg Avenue at about 6:15 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575 or your local police. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app.
