Red Deer lawyer named one of Canada’s 25 most influential lawyers

Red Deer’s Donna Purcell has been named one of the top 25 most influential lawyers in the county.

Red Deer’s Donna Purcell has been named one of the top 25 most influential lawyers in the county.

Purcell, who is a civil litigator at Donna Purcell Q.C. was awarded the honour by Canadian Lawyer Magazine for her ability “to influence public opinion and to help shape the laws of this country and others, contribute to the strength and quality of legal services, involvement and impact within the justice community, and social and political influence and involvement.”

Purcell was selected in the changemakers category.

She was responsible for the formation of COVID-19 Emergency Response Teams within the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association (ACTLA) and Central Alberta Bar Society.

She also organized a Canadian Bar Association Webinar: Keeping Small as well as Solo Firms Going in Uncertain Times. Purcell is a founding director of the Central Alberta Legal Clinic Foundation and helped kickstart a provincial access to justice fundraiser and awareness campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic.
