A 37-year-old Red Deer man was arrested after an alleged home invasion in Wainwright Monday morning.

Shortly after 10 a.m., Wainwright RCMP were called to a home, where a man armed with a firearm allegedly forced entry into the residence.

More than 25 RCMP officers from multiple detachments in Alberta and Saskatchewan responded.

Police say the armed suspect reportedly stole a pickup truck from a nearby location prior to forcing entry into this residence.

The truck was located nearby – after the driver failed to stop for police, a police pursuit was initiated in Wainwright.

The suspect allegedly shot a firearm at the police officers pursuing him, as the pursuit continued through multiple RCMP jurisdictions.

A tire deflation device was eventually deployed and the suspect vehicle was rendered inoperable.

No physical injuries to the public or police officers were reported during this incident.
