A Red Deer man is facing a number of charges after being arrested by Vegreville RCMP.
Police were called to a local motel around 10 a.m. on Friday, where a possible stolen vehicle was reported.
When officers arrived, the vehicle was located and a man attempted to drive away.
The man fled on foot, but he was arrested after a brief chase. He was allegedly found to be in possession of substances believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the room the man left from. A loaded .22-calibre rifle, which was modified, rendering it a prohibited firearm, was located.
Mark Alexander Kennedy, 29, of Red Deer, is facing 11 charges, including possession for the purposes of trafficking, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm.
Lindsay Patricia Dickson, of Two Hills, was charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm.
Both individuals will appear in Vegreville provincial court Sept. 23.
