Red Deer RCMP continue to investigate

A Red Deer man remains in serious condition with head injuries after he was assaulted and found in a parking lot in the Railyards district Sunday afternoon.

Red Deer RCMP Sgt. Ian Ihme said the 33-year-old man was hit with a heavy stick in what police believe was not a random attack.

Ihme said at about 4:45 p.m., EMS were called to the Cannery Row Mall parking lot, at 5239 53rd Ave. The victim was flown by STARS air ambulance to Calgary’s Foothills Hospital.

RCMP continue to investigate.
