A Red Deer man is facing charges after a school bus collision and armed robbery in Springbrook earlier this year.
On Jan. 22, Blackfalds RCMP responded to a reported head-on collision between a pickup truck and school bus with several children on board.
After the collision, the male driver of the truck got out of the vehicle and brandished a handgun at a passerby who stopped to offer assistance. He then drove off in the passerby’s vehicle.
Neither the passerby or any school bus occupants were physically injured in the incident.
Jason Ionson is facing a number of charges, including robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon and dangerous driving.
He has been in custody since Feb. 26 on unrelated matters, and was charged on April 23.
