A Red Deer man died after a collision with a semi trailer northwest of Whitecourt on Tuesday.
Whitecourt RCMP said the preliminary investigation showed that a pick-up truck rear ended a semi trailer, which was parked on the side of the road, about one km east of Eagle Tower Road in Woodlands County.
A 39-year-old Red Deer man, the driver and only occupant in the pick-up truck, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Officers responded to the crash at about 1 p.m, and traffic was diverted for six hours.
Whitecourt RCMP continue to investigate. No further updates are anticipated.
