A 47-year-old Red Deer man faces numerous criminal offences after an extensive investigation by the Red Deer City RCMP commercial crime investigation section.

A complainant reported to RCMP that his business had paid more than $160,000 for 11 vehicles over a one-year period. The vehicles were allegedly never delivered as promised.

Instead, the suspect is alleged to have taken paid-for vehicles to various auctions/dealers throughout Alberta. Nine of the vehicles were then registered by new owners throughout Alberta and Manitoba. Police say all the vehicles were traced back to the original suspect and business as being the seller. Two of the 11 vehicles have yet to be located.

Andrew Hannemann of Double A Auto was arrested on July 15. He faces 23 charges, including 11 counts of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of theft over $5,000 and 11 counts of fraud over $5,000.

Hannemann was released from custody and is to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Sept. 3.
