Red Deer man facing drug trafficking charge

A 66-year-old Red Deer man is facing multiple charges after a week-long police investigation.

Douglas Allan McFarlane is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a scheduled substance and four counts of breach of recognizance.

The investigation focused on suspected drug activity at an apartment complex on Boyce Street.

A search warrant was executed June 5 and police seized 33 grams of cocaine, more than $6,000 in cash and two weapons.

McFarlane will appear in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday.
