Red Deer man found dead in Mountain View County

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes unit is investigating the murder of a Red Deer man whose body was found in Mountain View County earlier this week.

On Monday, police were dispatched to an oil lease road off Township Road 310, where a body was discovered by a local hunter. Officers arrived at the scene and confirmed the man was dead.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Alhaji Fofanah, a resident of Red Deer.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes have taken over the investigation. On Wednesday, an autopsy was completed by the Calgary Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and it was determined this death was a homicide.

Anyone with information related to Fofanah’s death or recent activities is asked to contact Didsbury RCMP. RCMP is also requesting anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area of Township Road 310 on the evening of Monday, Sept. 12, to contact Didsbury RCMP at 403-335-3381.
