A City of Red Deer bylaw requiring individuals to wear a face covering or face shield in all indoor public facilities with a patron capacity of 15 or greater would come into effect Nov. 30 if approved.
City council is expected to give third reading to the proposed mandatory face covering bylaw at Monday’s meeting.
The first and second readings were held at its meeting this past Monday.
“Health experts continue to stress the importance of face coverings as a measure to help limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities,” says the agenda for city council’s upcoming meeting.
“Specifically, face coverings are recommended in public spaces when physical distancing (two metres) is not possible, as well as indoors.”
A transit face covering bylaw has been in effect since Aug. 31.
