The MAG will be celebrating its 50-year history with birthday cake, a colouring contest, 1970s music, a “collaborative cake mural,” bowling for beavers, hoopla-hooping and much more.

A 1970’s themed birthday party will be held on Family Day Monday, Feb. 20. Red Deerians are invited to participate in fun activities for all ages from 1 to 4 p.m.

Take a instant family selfie, participate in a “sketch party,” or groove to disco music under a disco ball with DJ On The Mark.’ Party-goers can write wishes on paper candles and add them to the cake mural.

And folks can also dress up in ’70s splendor, and win prizes for best outfits, or make Pop Art cans, peace plates or collaborative macrame art.

More event details are on the MAG’s website — along with downloadable colouring contest sheets, or drop by the museum to pick one up. (Entries must be returned to the museum by no later than 4 p.m. on Feb. 20 to be entered into the draw for prizes. All ages are encouraged to participate.)

Thanks to Servus Credit Union, admission to this event is free for all ages. The MAG is located at 4525 47A Ave.
