Red Deer organization offering 12-week support worker certification course

A unique agency in Red Deer is offering a certificate course for support workers.

Alberta Prairies Life Enrichment Training Studio (APLETS) is now offering a Life Enrichment Support Worker Program Certificate Course, which is a 12-week certification course, created “specifically for individuals who are interested in and have a passion for starting a career as a support worker for our vulnerable and disadvantaged citizens”.

The number of in-person spots available is limited and there is also a virtual program being offered alongside the in-class portion.

“Alberta has been experiencing a crisis due to a lack of support workers for our most vulnerable and disadvantaged citizens including our elderly/frail, individuals who are living with special needs, our citizens struggling with poverty, homelessness, addictions, mental health concerns, chronic medical health concerns etc,” the organization said in a release.

“Alberta Prairies Life Enrichment Studio Ltd. is dedicated to help make positive change that will allow our most vulnerable population to live more enriched, healthy, fulfilling lives.”

The program is set to start on March 27.
