Red Deer outdoor rinks open this weekend

This weekend, all outdoor city rink locations, including Bower Ponds and Setters Place at Great Chief Park, will be ready for use.

This weekend, all outdoor city rink locations, including Bower Ponds and Setters Place at Great Chief Park, will be ready for use.

Hockey nets will be delivered and lighting systems will be activated at all locations by Saturday.

The city reminds skaters that the use of helmets is recommended, and hockey is not permitted at Bower Ponds or the ice skating oval at Setters Place.

A concession and skate rentals are available at Bower Ponds.

Bower Ponds Pavilion is open from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

The ice oval at Setters Place is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
