Men, get your high heels ready: The Red Deer Outreach Centre will be holding the Walk A Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser this month.
The annual event that requires males to don pumps or stilettos for an awareness-raising walk will run on Wednesday Sept. 13. It will begin at 11 a.m. from city parking lot no. 4 (49th Avenue and 49th Street).
Proceeds from Walk A Mile in Her Shoes will go towards Red Deer Outreach Centre’s support, advocacy and services to end gender-based and domestic violence.
Red Deer Outreach Centre runs programs to help people experiencing domestic violence, as well as those focusing on housing, suicide prevention and grief support. It also runs Julietta’s Place, a secure residence for women fleeing domestic violence, and the Dragonfly Centre for children’s healing.
