Red Deer pair face numerous charges after arrests in Innisfail

Innisfail RCMP arrested and charged two people after the driver of a stolen vehicle fled during an attempted traffic stop on Wednesday evening.

A 25-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both from Red Deer, had been wanted on numerous warrants.

Innisfail RCMP said in a statement that at about 9 p.m. while on routine patrol an officer spotted a suspicious vehicle and attempted to stop it.

The vehicle fled fand was located a short time later abandoned in the middle of a road with extensive damage. A man and a woman were arrested soon after. Both were found to be wanted on numerous warrants and the damaged vehicle was confirmed as stolen.

The woman faces several charges including possession of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of counterfeit money.

The man also faces about a dozen charges, including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of counterfeit money, possession of drugs, possession of counterfeit money and driving an uninsured vehicle.

The pair have been remanded in custody.
