‘Tis Toys for Tickets time again.
Anyone who receives a city-issued parking ticket from Nov. 1-30 can once again pay with a toy through The City of Red Deer’s annual Toys for Tickets program.
All toys received are donated to the Red Deer Christmas Bureau to help achieve the goal of ensuring no child waking up without a toy on Christmas morning.
To date, over 5,800 toys, games and gift cards have been collected since the program started in 2007.
Toys in lieu of parking ticket payments will be accepted weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at City Hall starting Friday.
All gifts must be new, unwrapped and in their original packaging. The early ticket payment rate will remain in effect when the ticket is paid for with a toy. However, the toy must be equal or greater value than the amount owing on the parking ticket.
A receipt must be presented at the time of payment, and if the toy cost lower than the price of the ticket, the difference must be paid.
Gifts for older children aged 10 to 17 are especially in demand. Gifts such as craft sets, movie passes, books, electronics, sports equipment and gift cards are encouraged.
More information and toy suggestions can be found at www.reddeer.ca/toysfortickets.
Participants are being encouraged by the city to shop local and support Red Deer businesses when possible.
