Tree pruning by City of Red Deer workers is set to begin on July 4.

Parks and Public Works crews using aerial lift trucks will be pruning trees in the downtown between 48th and 52nd Streets, as well as between 47th and 51st Avenues.

Work is expected to be complete by Aug. 5.

It will take place weekdays between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. Signs will advise drivers of lane closures and no parking zones.

Red Deerians are reminded to obey safety and traffic controls and give crews and equipment space to operate.

City tree maintenance is part of the pruning program for safety, plant health and clearance from sidewalks and power lines
