Red Deer police make marijuana and steroid bust

A 22-year-old Edmonton man is facing drug charges after Red Deer RCMP officers observed a suspected drug transaction involving a vehicle at the corner of Ross Street and 47th Avenue on Friday at about 9 p.m.

A 22-year-old Edmonton man is facing drug charges after Red Deer RCMP officers observed a suspected drug transaction involving a vehicle at the corner of Ross Street and 47th Avenue on Friday at about 9 p.m.

Police stopped vehicle and observed open liquor inside the car. Both male occupants in the car were arrested without incident.

A further search of the vehicle and of the two men resulted in the discovery and seizure of an undisclosed quantity of marijuana, as well as anabolic steroids.

Travis Stewart was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of production of a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Stewart was released from custody and is set to appear in Red Deer provincial court on June 13.

The other male occupant arrested in the incident was released from custody and was not charged.
