Red Deer Polytechnic will have four new programs beginning in the Fall 2023 term.

“We are excited to add these new and re-energized programs to our comprehensive mix of industry-relevant programming at Red Deer Polytechnic,” said Paulette Hanna, interim vice-president academic.

“The knowledge and skills that graduates will possess help to address the needs of the labour market, communities and learners, advancing the economic and social interests of Alberta.”

The new programs are Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies, Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma, Instrumentation and Automation Engineering Technology Diploma, Bachelor of Business Administration and Early Childhood Education Leadership Development Certificate.

In Fall 2023 Term the redesigned Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma is also open for enrolment.

RDP will also re-introduce the enhanced Mechanical Engineering Technology and the Instrumentation and Automation Technology diplomas after pausing enrolment for the past two years.

“We consulted with students, industry partners and content experts to enhance our Engineering Technology Diplomas to best serve the needs of learners and business communities,” said Robbie Halonen, interim dean of the Donald School of Business, Science and Technology.

“The increased component of lab-based applied learning will complement the academic theory as students develop their knowledge and skills and prepare for high-demand careers across Alberta and further abroad.”

Halonen added RDP’s business programs build on the expertise of its faculty, who have been delivering the collaborative degree program for a number of years.

“These modernized programs prepare students to address the needs of businesses in our community and build strong connections with employers,” Halonen said.

Five new programs were introduced during the 2022-23 academic year as well. Information about the more than 80 programs offered at RDP can be found online at rdpolytech.ca/programs.
