The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens had their remarkable run this season come to an end Saturday.

In their final match at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Soccer Championships, the Queens played for pride Saturday in the fifth/ sixth place against the Humber Hawks of Ontario.

Humber, the Ontario collegiate champion, opened the scoring in the 41st minute on a penalty kick before adding to their lead in the 67th. The Queens mounted pressure throughout the game but couldn’t find the scoresheet.

The players of the game went to Sofia Quinteros of the Queens and Hawks captain Remi Pelletier.

Aigles d’Ahuntsic won gold over the Ch. Saint Lambert Cavaliers and the VIU Mariners won bronze.
