Red Deer property owners will soon start to receive property tax notices in their mailboxes and inboxes.
The 2022 tax payment deadline is June 30. Payments may be made online or in person
through financial institutions, by mail, through mortgage companies, or at City Hall.
Property owners can also sign up for the Tax Instalment Plan (TIP) to pay their taxes in equal
automatic monthly payments from June to December. Property owners can join TIP by
completing the online form at www.reddeer.ca/TIP by June 15.
Late payment penalties will be applied to unpaid tax account balances on July 1. In 2021, the
city temporarily reduced tax penalties to provide relief to those facing financial challenges
because of COVID-19. Penalties will be reduced to five per cent, rather than seven per cent, on July 1
for 2022. Those who are facing financial challenges are encouraged to pay what they can by
the deadline to reduce penalties on any unpaid tax balance.
Due to delays at the provincial Land Titles Office, the city may not have updated ownership
information for recent real estate transactions. Property owners who do not receive their tax
notice by the middle of June should contact Revenue & Assessment Services at 403-342-8126
or tax@reddeer.ca.
