All three Red Deer Public Library branches will begin opening on Sundays.

Traditionally, Sunday is one of the busiest days at the downtown branch, said library CEO Shelley Ross.

“In our 2018 customer satisfaction survey, we received many comments asking that all the branches be open on Sundays, and a few asking for different hours of opening, including opening earlier on Sundays,” said Ross.

“While it’s not possible to stay within budget and also satisfy all of the demands for library hours, we analyzed visits to the library and realized that we could make Red Deerians’ lives a little easier and a lot more fun by adding Sunday hours to the branches.”

On Sundays, an average of 121 people pass through the gates every hour, compared to an average of 85 people per hour on other days.

“All three library branches bring busy people together and enrich their local communities, so anything we can do to make library visits easier to plan and easier to fit into the week, it’s worth doing,” said Ross.
