The Red Deer Public Library is set to raise funds through a one-day campaign on April 4.

The Library Giving Day campaign encourages Red Deer library lovers to make a gift to their local library. Donations from the 2022 Library Giving Day campaign went toward the Downtown Branch Toy Lending Library, allowing it to reopen after the pandemic filled with brand new toys.

“This campaign reminds us that libraries, small and large, serve as an important cornerstone for our communities, offering not just well-loved books, but also innovative programs to connect patrons to technology and encourage lifelong learning,” says Briana Ehnes, Events & Innovation Manager at Red Deer Public Library.

Funds this year will be allocated to the area of highest need, which could include collections, programs and other new initiatives, Ehnes said in a release.

“Libraries are special places where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, educational level or financial status. At a library, everyone is treated the same no matter what, and I think Red Deerians value that, and will graciously donate to support RDPL,” she says.

Online donations can be made at rdpl.org/donate, or people can donate in person at any branch.

“Strong libraries build strong communities,” Ehnes adds. “Please join us in spreading the word through our community and help us raise awareness and funds for Library Giving Day.”
