Red Deer Public School board to vote on vaccination policy

Temporary policy comes to board Nov. 10

Red Deer Public School board approved the development of a temporary vaccination or rapid test policy for staff at a special meting held on Oct. 28.

A draft of the policy will be before the board for consideration on Nov. 10.

The special meeting was held to review vaccination requirements following a meeting with the division’s insurance broker.

The board approved a motion for the superintendent to develop a temporary board policy regarding the requirement of division staff to provide proof of full vaccination for COVID-19, or proof of a negative rapid test every 72 hours for COVID-19.

The motion was passed with board vice chair Cathy Peacocke, Matt Gould, Dianne Macaulay, Angela Sommers and Jim Watters voting in favour. Trustee Bev Manning voted against the motion. Board chair Nicole Buchanan was absent.
