The Red Deer RCMP was busy as August came to a close.

Tuesday, the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) announced they arrested 55 people between Aug. 25-28 and also executed 130 warrants over that span. They cleared a total of 197 charges.

CRT members targeted offenders with outstanding warrants, many repeat or prolific offenders of property and drug offences.

“The warrant round-up is a valuable component of our crime reduction toolkit. We often apprehend repeat offenders with numerous outstanding warrants,” said Corporal Matthew Strader. “While some warrants can be for minor things, others can be quite serious. For example, we apprehended an individual who had a warrant for assaulting on a Peace Officer.”
