A Red Deer RCMP constable was struck by a vehicle during an active investigation earlier last week.

RCMP say that on Oct. 28 at 2:15 a.m., the officer was supporting an active investigation in the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood when a car collided with the rear of the police vehicle.

Emergency services attended the scene and both the RCMP member and the male driver of the car were transported to the hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Both vehicles sustained significant damage as a result of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing and an update will be provided when more information is available.
