More than three kilograms of drugs destined for the streets were seized in a joint police investigation in the Red Deer area and Calgary.

Three men were charged, including a Springbrook man and two people from Calgary.

Police seized a total of 2.1 kilograms of methamphetamine and 1.3 kilograms of fentanyl, along with 238.2 grams of cocaine and $10,000 in cash.

“Through excellent investigational work and effective interagency collaboration, this drug trafficking network was disrupted and dangerous drugs were prevented from entering a number of Alberta communities,” said Red Deer RCMP Insp. Heidi Ravenhill in a statement.

The RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime (FSOC) unit and Red Deer RCMP’s General Investigative Section partnered in the investigation.

“This investigation exemplifies the importance of strong working relationships between the federal policing program and the many RCMP detachments in Alberta,” said FSOC Staff Sgt. Kent Dahl.

A 38-year-old Springbrook man was charged with six counts of drug trafficking, four counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and two counts of trafficking in property obtained by crime. He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Dec. 1.

A 39-year-old Calgary man was charged with six counts of drug trafficking, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

A 26-year-old Calgary resident, who was previously charged with three counts of drug trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, appeared in court Calgary Provincial Court on Oct. 26.
